Get on the Right Side of IT History

Written by Jason W. D. Cassidy | Aug 06, 2025

If you work in IT, or work with IT there’s a fundamental shift happening that you can’t afford to ignore.

In today's post, I'll break down what today’s employees really want when it comes to workplace tech, including:

  • Why traditional systems are failing them
  • How AI-powered search creates a faster, simpler, more modern experience

The fact is, the teams who win are the ones who make it easier to get work done.

Users Want Simplicity, Not Complicated Systems

Most people want the same two things:

  1. To find the info they need
  2. To be able to use it to do their job and/or create something valuable

That’s it. That’s the job.

But some IT departments still cling to outdated, overcomplicated systems (Don't get me started on the most recent SharePoint hack as an example).

That mindset is holding everyone back.

Plus, we all know a better experience exists, because we live it every day.

Take your smartphone. It’s probably the most powerful device you own. You can do nearly anything with it and you didn’t need a single training session with IT to do it.

You just picked it up and used it.

That seamless smartphone experience is the gold standard now and we expect it everywhere else in life.

So why do we tolerate less at work?

Why AI Search Just Makes Sense

This is why I always recommend building around AI-powered search.

Users just need to know those two simple things:

  1. What am I looking for?
  2. What do I need to create with it?

This is the direction the industry is speeding towards.

The Big Takeaway Here...

If IT wants to stay relevant, it’s time to let go of legacy tools and processes that frustrate more than they help.

The future belongs to those who prioritize simplicity, speed, and usability.

It’s not just about better tech. It’s about better work.

And that’s how you get on the right side of IT history.
